Lone Parents now 11% of JSA Claimants, even though numbers continue to fall

11% of JSA claimants are Lone Parents

The number of Lone Parents on JSA is continuing to fall, but not quite as fast as JSA claimants as a whole, which means that as a percentage, lone parents now make up 11% of the total.

Largest Group of Lone Parents on JSA have primary school children

Lone parents with 5-11 year olds are most likely to be on JSA: they account for 79% of those with School age children Lone with those over 12 amounting to 21%.
