Lone Parents on JSA down again. Back to 2012 figures when benefit changes introduced

The number of Lone Parents on JSA has fallen again, by three thousand in a month. This brings the number back to 114,590. Exactly where they were in May 2012 when the welfare benefit changes were introduced.

The fall has been largest in the London where the the numbers have fallen by almost a third in a year.

Over 80% Parents on JSA have a child at primary school; making wrap around care a priority.

Lone parents continue to make up 10% of the total JSA cohort. Over 80% are aged between 25 and 49 and 90% are women.
