Not all slogans are born equal. Some ‘just do it!’ others “just say no!’. But last night I was privileged to host the IEP Networking event at PPDG’s offices in Birmingham. And those who were there will remember it for the rallying cry of Sir Tony Hawkhead CBE, CEO of Groundwork. He hit the nail on the head when he said that as a sector we need to focus on three things: quality, delivery and ethics. It was immediately evident that the whole room agreed, and for the rest of the evening there was a buzz about the need to incorporate these values in the way contracts are awarded and the services that are on offer.
The event was a success in other ways. The IEP team of Bob Leach, Declan Swann, Stewart Knowles and Jaroslava Rudavaska were able to ask and answer questions about the IEP; membership benefits, the new qualifications and the best way to create a membership organisation that provides opportunities to develop individually and improve the services on offer to the people who use the sector.
It was great to have Kirsty Mchugh from ERSA present too, as she has been such an important supporter of the IEP.
My good friend and business buddy Christine Brown from FutureExcel summed it up for me when she said it was one of those events where the people and the content made for a perfect session.
